| The WSU new academic/administration building in Davis County is a three-story steel framed building with a metal roof diaphragm and concrete
slabs on metal deck at the suspended floors. The seismic force resisting system consists of special concentrically braced frames designed and
detailed per requirements of the 2000 IBC and the 1997 edition of AISC’s Seismic Provisions for Structural Steel Buildings. The special concentrically
braced frames are expected to withstand significant inelastic deformations when subjected to the design earthquake, and have increased ductility over
ordinary concentrically braced frames. |
